We write and perform our own material with the occasional well considered cover. We like the 60s, we like Beat and Psychedelia and Rock as long as there's plenty of Roll. We like valve amplifiers and equipment of character. We love people who love music........
We're from the West Coast of Scotland near to Glasgow and we're very proud of and grateful to be a part of Glasgow's vibrant and diverse music scene.
A bit of Laynes history.........
We formed in 2006 and released our first track 'I'm Lost' on 'The Powerpop Overthrow, Vol 1' on American 272 Records in 2008. We appear under the name The Zimmers, but that's another story! We re-released I'm Lost under The Laynes name on a self released CD in the UK in 2008. In 2009 we appeared on Rowed Out Records 'Immediate Pleasures' compliation with 'It's Not The First Time'. Late 2009 also saw the release of our first album 'It's For You' on Two Cat Records, followed by a vinyl single 'We Got Time' in 2010. In 2010 and 2011 we were too busy gigging to record anything but there was a further Two Cat release 'Five & Live', featuring 5 live tracks recorded in Glasgow. This CD was given away free attached to an edition of the Double Breasted modzine. 2012 and 2013 are a blur of gigs and demo recordings except that Acid Jazz Records put We Got Time on their Hipsters 3 compilation. In 2014 we featured on the 'Take A Bow For The New Revolution' CD compliation of bands who had supported the March of the Mods series of gigs in support of the Teenage Cancer Trust. We are very proud of our involvement with this worthy cause and with the impressive amount of money that has been raised - 100K this year alone from one months worth of gigs! This was the year we started to put our next long player down so It has been 2 years in the making! Will It be worth the wait....? We think so, and in the coming months we plan to fascinate you with the 13 tracks on 'Come On Board With The Laynes' that represent our finest work to date.
